many people say that italians cheated and didn't deserve to win the world cup... a question to the guys that think that way: did italy use hormones or any other doping method to win? no - they used tactics!! so why blaming italy for tactics when tour-de-france winner floyd landis may have doped himself during leg 17 - let's wait for the results of the additional examination of the probe and get the party started in case he gets disqualified....

i'm posting this on purpose using hypocrite language to let the americans who criticized italy see how 'nice' it is, if someone criticizes a winner and spoils his/her/their victory by spreading bad propaganda...

Hey Pinturicchio !!

People can call Italians cheaters, divers, arrogant whatever they want but the fact remains that the trophy is in Rome and it's staying there til 2010...hopefully with all our talented players we'll win again in 2010 !!!

Forza Italia
We are the champions and nobody can change that!!!

No matter who wins, there is always going to be people looking for excuses. The fact that the Italian league just had a big match fixing scandal only adds fuel to the fire.

If the Italians cheated to win the Cup, then I'd have to say that the Germans cheated to beat Argentina. The yellow card for Maxi's 'dive' was a foul in my eyes, and being that it was in the penalty area...

Italian players have been unfairly painted with the same stereotypical brush over the years of a "diver" and a "cheat", but in Germany this year, the gamesmanship has been kept to a bare miminum. ITALY HAS GIVEN UP ONLY ONE GOAL AND AN OWN-GOAL AT THAT IN SIX GAMES, FOR GOD'S SAKE!!

Often maligned for not having creativity, Italy has scored a tournament leading 11 goals with much suffering and pain. First of all, they won a tough opening round group and although some of you have suggested that Italy was lucky to beat Australia due to a controversial penalty (they were unjustly reduced to 10 men in the second half but you don't care to comment on that), THEN IT WAS FULL VALUE FOR ITS VICTORY IN ITS NEXT TWO GAMES. In fact, Italy thrashed Ukraine 3-0 and Germany 2-0 in Dortmund, a city where the hosts were undefeated in 14 previous matches. Even the British, who are notorious for always critizicing the Italians, had nothing but praise for the players after the victory in Germany. WHAT EXCUSE DO YOU HAVE FOR ITALY BEATING GERMANY???????

In closing, I want to add that even with the scandal hounding them and the thought of a dear friend fighting for his life (Pessutto), Italy bravely and courageoulsy went on till the end to be CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD.

To those of you who can't get over it.....put it in a juicebox and suck it.

The excuse that people can't live if they can't die is a fake. This tournament is done to see friendly games for the nations playing fairly and all we are seeing Korea/Japan 2002 and Germany 2006 is only acting diving and telenovelas, and the best whiner/diver/cheater winning. it should be called the divers and cheaters cup then and not the damn fu**en world cup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Soccer is starting to stink

Everybody always cheats a bit but: but FRENCH cannot speak they them all. Got 2 penalties in semi and final with dives documented on TV. Scored no other goal and wish to win?? F*c* the hell off out of here. I think Grosso with Australia might have dived but nobody will ever know a s TV does not prove it. And even if he had the Aussie player was there in front of him and he was not obliged to jump so football rules say "procured damage". Read the rules morons.

Teams and players at the top of their sport wil 'bend' the rules as much as possible to gain advantage. The problem is with the authorities who don't stop them. Players for example take dives and win penalties. If Fifa reviewed each game and awarded suspensions for every dive it would stop.

well it is clear that you are italian
the italians did cheat because Australia almost won except for thatt unfair penalty..at the last second
if you compair them to the rest..who reached the semi-finals....i think the best of the four were germany and italy...i wished from the beginning that both teams play in the final(although i am not a fan of italy)but i have to admit it they were good..
and both teams deserved to win:germany and italy...( i am not talking about which i love i am talking fairly i think)
if you want to know who i wanted to win:germany
and in the final france....(zizou)
but italy according to their performance in the semi-finals deserved to win because from the beginning of the match the french players were depressed and the lost hope from the first minute coz henry got injured....on the other hand ..the italians werent afraid of the match and really wanted the cup
so they won

people who refer to the Australia-Italia match. umm Grosso dived but the ref wasn't close enough to notice and you can barely tell. and are you forgetting that they can't use the replays? so just forget it.Italy doesn't cheat or dive. i may sound hypocritical but it's not like the other countries who dive 5x a match. who can't live if they can't dive.
