What about software for communication?

I imagine this is for a network within a school district. It is a question from my professor. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

You need a NOS or network operating system. This would be Windows 2000 or 2003 server, Novell Netware, etc. Then you need clients like Windows XP, 98, 2000, Linux or whatever. Basic client server environment. That's it.

It really depends on the type of network you want to make. Generally, an operating system comes already bundled with system software to administer networks. If you could specify more, I will be able to help you more:
