I believe it was the same as during the Middle ages their ability to hold on to money during the Middle ages when the kings funds would run low they would seize the money that the Jews who ran the banks had I suggest watching the Merchant of Venice. their is also the way they hold on to who they are they don't bled in well with some cultures especially cultures that view themselves as strongly christian. This is just an opinion of how others might have felt from studing History not a defineate answer.

Nazism arose with the many other fascist and ultra-nationalist movements in the early 20th century. Many of these movements were based on the writings of the French "proto-fascists" such as Maurice Barres and Pierre Drieu La Rochelle who where anti-Semitic since France had a long history of anti-Semitism (the Dreyfus Affair being an example). The NSDAP's anti-Semitism partially comes from this tradition. However, some movements weren't anti-Semitic. The most notable being the Italian National Fascist Party under Mussolini that wouldn't become anti-Semitic until later.
In Austria (Hitler's homeland) anti-Semitism was very common at the time. At the time the pan-Germanic movement was influential which used the era's racial theories to "prove" the superiority of the Norse/Germanic Aryans over the "lesser" races (blacks,
Asians, Jews). He also read and heard lectures by Lanz von Liebenfels, Georg Ritter von Schönerer, and Karl Lueger who were notable anti-Semites in the pan-Germanic movement. In addition there was hostility between the Catholics in Vienna and the Orthodox Jews.
After losing the First World War Germany was very destitute but the Jews still had a good deal of money through centuries of banking adding to the hostility. Nationalism flared up to try to save face after losing the war but the Jews were politically either capitalist or socialist. Socialism was against Nationalism and capitalism was blamed for causing Germany's problems both of which were associated with the Jews.
In 1938 there was a wave of anti-Semitism in Europe which was caused by people blaming the Jews for the rise of Hitler and his militarism. This led to a tendency for other European powers to "overlook" the Holocaust initially or to join in the "struggle against the Jews" (most notably Italy).

The great depression helped move things along. Germany's mark had devalued to the point that truckloads of money were needed to fund payrolls. Any saved money was essentially worthless. Think of how the Mexican peso fluctuated in the 80s. The Nazi party helped channel the public unrest in the working class, the class hardest hit by the depression, against the Jewish population, who felt the sting less. The Nazi's obviously took the scapegoating of the Jews to the absolute limits and were very good at propogandizing their views and beliefs. The people were desparate for a better life and the Nazi's gave them a false scapegoat to rally against.

The culmination of multiple factors including those others have listed but also, about 1700 years of building Anti-Semitism propagated first by Catholic dogma and later picked up by a number of Protestant groups especially German Lutherans (Luther thought Jews would rally to his religion and when they didn't he became blatantly Anti-Semitic). Factor in, the false mythology about Jewish blood-guilt for killing Christ (I notice no one seems to blame Italians even though the Romans actually hung him on the cross), child sacrifice, and others. Then add the images of Jews painted in Wagnerian opera and presto, you will eventually get a pogrom on an epic scale (we call it the Holocaust).
And "fly boy" is dead wrong. I've walked through a concentration camp and it still smells of death.

Their percieved arrogance at a time when the economy was in serious trouble. Remeber there was a global downturn, but the Jews apparently were not suffering the consequences of the depression. hence it was easy for the Nazi's to turn against a whole race. Not to be commended.

The Germans feared the Jewish people because their population was growing and they were starting new businesses and buying property...........Hitler didn't only fear the Jewish population, Polish people, religious leaders (priests, nuns and the like), and anyone of a different skin color than the blond blue eyed Germans were also put to death......My question is this, Hitler and several of his henchmen had dark hair and dark eyes, why were they spared, if the cause in murdering all of these innocents was to purify the human race???????
