i know the GERL system is involved with the synthesis/degredation of intracellular components..although would it be fair to say the GERL system also works extracellularily? Or mainly just intracellularily ...

Gerl does most of its job intracellular, but the PRODUCTS it makes, they tend to go outside the cell, so system works in and products in/out.
