In the UK, I think most French women come across as being elegant and glamourous and have got the pouting thing off to a fine art.... well dressed and hold themselves up with dignity...
Shame a few british women weren't like that.... falling over themselves drunk on a saturday night with skirts up around their heads showing all tomorrow's washing....eeuewwww

I have heard that all French people hate all Americans, that they are all rude, that they all dress well, and that they all drink wine and eat cheese and love frogs.
That's no more accurate, fair or sensible than to say all Americans belong to the KKK, believe in war, are loud and boorish, or are under-educated.
I don't think people gain or benefit from believing in cliches, even so-called "good" cliches, such as believing that certain groups have rhythm when they dance, or that certain groups are impeccable dressers. I'd rather get to know people as individuals, regardless of their background. Everyone is unique and special, and deserves to be regarded as such.
The exception to the above is that sometimes I get very angry at France when I study the French Revolution, because of the excessive cruelty and blood, and because of how the little boy-king Louis 17th was treated in prison. It sickens me to think how all those dirty filthy people were singing "Ca Ira" and dancing around the liberty trees, and destroying beautiful Versailles, and blaming Marie Antoinette for the 1755 earthquake in Portugal (even though that was about 34 years before the revolution), and falsely accusing her of buying that stupid diamond necklace. I also hate Napoleon Bonaparte. I can't help feeling strongly about these things, although I know it is completely ridiculous to judge people who lived over 200 years ago!
Aside from that, I try not to pay mind to cliches, but to get to know people as individuals.

My friends who have been to France say that the French are very snotty if you don't at least try to speak their language. I have also heard friends say that there is an arrogance against Americans because the French hate our president. This is what I have heard. I have never been to France, but I have always wanted to go and I have taken lots of French classes in college.

Sorry - you did ask! Personally I don't know any french peeps, but UK tend to think of berets, garlic, baguettes, croissant and frogs legs. Tho I did hear from my friend the other day that the legs are the most delicious part of the frog and advised me NEVER to eat the body, so maybe you're on the right lines there..!

I'm sorry to say this but the cliches tend to be that they don't shave their legs or armpits, that they're stand-offish, ride bicycles, wear Breton tops, like garlic a lot etc.
On the plus side, many believe French people, esp Parisians, are very stylish, so you have that in your favour.
I hate stereotypes, so naturally, I believe none of this.

That French women are always perfectly turned out and very stylish - if a little cold and aloof. I am sure it is not true of all French women, but that is what they say!

Not using deodorant or soap, eating almost anything, being rude to the English (this one is true, they have been hostile to me and then become instantly friendly when they discovered we were Scots, not English) and women not shaving their armpits.
Getting more silly, they also have berets, navy and white striped jumpers and onions round their necks.
