Common Law Marriage is no more.

It used to be 5 or 7 years of living with someone, made you married by 'common law'. My cousin actually had to go through with divorce preceedings to seperate from his live-in girlfriend, but that was like 15 yrs ago!

Most of the states now a days don't do the common law marriage thing anymore. I take paralegal studies, and that is what I learned. However, if your state still does it then you need to be living like husband and wife, able to actually marry, and make an agreement. That's what to do if you can.

common law is when you share everything as is you were married and technically by law you are married the only reason you are not married is probably because one person is not wanting to get married and in canada where i live it is 12 months of living together that you become common law

I believe that common law was put away with in most states. I may be wrong but that is what I have heard.
