Ok, so this was said ot me last night, ver batum:

"So you're standing at a gate that leads to heaven or hell. You don't know which. And there are two angels, one on the left, and one on the right. One angel always tells the truth, and the other always lies. You can ask only one question; how do you find out where there gate leads?

The lying angel isn't going ot always send you to hell. he will LIE to you. doesn't matter what's behind the gate, he'll always give you a misleading answer.

The Answer: you ask "if i asked if this gate leads to heaven, would you say 'yes?'" The truthy angel would say yes, and the liar would HAVE to lie. His lie for "is this heaven" would be no, but the truth is yes. Therefore, the lying angel can't answer the question because either way he's answer truthfully.

Ask "If this is the gate to heaven, are there two angels out here?"

Scenario 1 (Gate is to Heaven)
Truthful angel will say "yes"
Lying angel will say "no"

Scenario 2 (Gate is to hell)
Truthful angel will say "no"
Lying angel will say "no"

I believe there are 2 unknowns
1. which one tells the truth/lie
2. which is the right gate hell/heaven
I believe we need more than 1 question for 100% accuracy.
Ask one of them what is 2 + 2 is . The one who gives the correct answar , ask the second question where the gate to heaven is.
If you assume that the one who tells the truth stands next to the gate to heaven; then 1 question would be enough. That would be a fairly logical assumption.

You ask one of the angels what the other angel would tell you to go.the one who always tells the truth will tell you the lie the other one would have told you so you would go to the other gate. the one that always lies would tell you the wrong gate too if you ask him what the truthtelling angel would say so you just always have to go to the other gate

You approach any of the angels and ask: "What gate does the other Angel says I should take?" Then you do the opposite.

You simply ask one question. "Have either of of you met my
ex-husband?" The one that says no is the one telling the truth. That gate leads to Heaven!

ask one angle if the other one would lie. If the angel you ask is the liar, then his answer would be yes. If the angel you ask tells the truth he would say yes.

It doesn't matter which is the liar. Just ask either one "which would the other say is Hell?"
Since the truth-sayer would point to hell, the liar will say the truth-sayer would point to heaven, thus pointing to heaven.
Since the liar would point to heaven, the truth-sayer will point to heaven.
So no matter which you ask, they will point you to heaven.

i figured it out
