The first thing Jenson Button has to do is start winning races. True, he's now started 111 Formula One races without a win. However, Mika Hakkinen started 96 times before his first win and he went on to win two world driving titles. Of course, another former driving champion, Nigel Mansell, had 72 starts before his first win.
I'm willing to give Jenson another year before I totally write off his chances; this is a bit of a transition year for Honda and I think there is a bit of internal turmoil going on - Geoff Willis is currently on `gardening leave'.
We tend to measure a driver against his teammate and I really don't think there is much to pick between Jenson and Rubens Barrichello; each has 16 points and they are almost even when it comes to qualifying (6-5 in favour of Rubens).
Having said that, Jenson was over-hyped when he came into F1 and he may turn out to be just another journeyman driver, much like Martin Brundle, Derek Warwick, Mark Blundell and Johnny Herbert.
Has F1 become boring? The technology isn't boring, but some of the races were a surefire cure for insomnia.

In my opinion, Jenson Button is an average skilled driver among F1 racers.
Today in F1 it's cruicial to have a good car, to show your skills.
Fernando Alonso had a 'back wind' when he started at Minardi, but now even with one of the most sophisticated machines in the field, the Reanult, he's unable to cope with M. Schumacher when the Bridgestone tyres are OK.
So, Button is a skilled but an average in F1 field, but unlucky sitting in a Honda. He won't have the possiblity to choose from other seats in 2007.
I think Kimi Räikkonen is the only real talent in the current F1 field, #4 in the drivers chamionship with a tractor :D and looks forward to choose a seat next year from Ferraris or Renaults. Or he can stay and prove that riding the same car, Alonso has no chance :D

ive been watching f1 since the very early 80s.
not a chance will button be world champ
id love him to prove me wrong but if im honest i think his team mate rubens barrichello has a better chance than jenson.
hey, at least we have half decent drivers.
usa cant even manage that!!!
oh and justin wilson who was a jaguar driver in f1 a few year ago is currently second in the champ car series (an american tournament).
f1 still has its moments but it usually requires a bit of rain to sort the men from the boys.
i say take a look at the a1 gp series and incorporate elements of that into f1. for example push to pass button, wheel nuts that dont always come off!

Yes, He will be world champion one day but there is such an excellent choice of drivers out there at the moment. Take a look Nigel Mansell and Damian Hill's careers, only once world champions.

Button will never do it.
F1 has become boring, with Micheal S winning all the time.
If the rules for the cars became more like A3 I feel the even playing field would enliven the races.
