Since i was a child my family has never had much money. My father is a deadbeat (although he says he wants to change). Ive lived in low income housing all my life, ive seen some of my best friends get killed, put in jail, and become crack addicts. I dont know where my next path in life will go, but i hope somehow in someway i can go to college to start a career in art this fall.
But regardless of all my problems, i still smile, laugh, and keep my head up. I am still happy.
And i feel more confident than ever.

You have to look after yourself and keep focused. Keeping focused is what motivates people. You will come to a point in your life when you can look back at all of your life's negatives and learn from them. Money can buy a lot of things. However, respect, honor, dignity and self respect though earned are free.
It is never too late to follow your dreams. I waited until after I raised my family and there is no stopping me now! You have a talent that no-one can take away from you. I wish you much luck and success!

its possible to be happy in any situation, even if you feel like no one has it as bad as you do, it all has to do with your thinking. if you have positive thinking then you can have the power to be happy in a sad, dreadful and unfortunate world. good luck in starting a career! sounds like a good goal to me, and if theres a will theres a way!

I'm sometimes at my happiest upon total defeat, since I know if there's not a darn thing I can do to change something, it's not even worth the time to worry about.

P.S. It is possible to be happy when we give all the glory to God, when we praise Him even for our struggles. Not that that's an easy thing to do...

You pretty much just answered your own question there, bud. It isn't easy to be happy and stay that way, but it's more than possible.
