This is my first month charting my bbt,I am trying to find out if I have ovulated yet. My temps starting on cycle day 7-14 were
97.2 97.4 97.4 97.7 97.1 97.4 97.2 97.6 I have been checking my cm and I think I ovulated on the 97.1 or 97.4 day but I didn't know if I had enough of a temp shift to have ovulated yet.I normally have a 26 or 27 day cycle. Please any help would be greatly appreciated,I am really hoping I got pregnant this month!

hmmm. I would say you would have ovulated on the day you had a 97.4 temp and the temp after that was 97.7 but still it seems to me that that isn't enough of a temperature shift. The books I've read said your temp should go up .6 or 1 degree. I'm having problems charting my bbt too because my waking temperatures are always like 96.5 and 96 even and my chart only starts at 97! I know that didn't help you at all but I would say keep charting for a few months and see what happens.

BBT can be very tricky because our temp can change with the most minimal thing we do, and also it depends on how you are charting it, it seems like you are not doing it right because you have BIG jumps from one day to another. BBT should be taken every morning first thing in the morning before you even get out of bed. My doctor also told me to do it vaginally, because it is much more accurate. Anyway, for you to know when you exactly ovulates you have had to have a jump for at least 3 days where all temps were about the same, so 97.7 was your highest however you have a 97.4 before it and 97.1 after it very very inconclusive. if you have had something like 97.6 - 97.6 - 97.7 and then 97.1, then I would've told you you have ovulated, because right after ovulation your temp drops down a lot and your temps look like you didn't do it right. Try again, but remember first thing in the morning while you are still in bed, and vaginally.

My doctor made me chart my BBT's for 2-3 months so that she could get a better idea of how my cycle worked. My temp always went up a noticable amount when I was ovulating - like at least a degree - making it fairly obvious as to when I was ovulating.

I think you need to continue charting to see what happens after day 14 since you should ovulate around that time. The temperature difference will only be slight, maybe a few tenths. If you plot it on a graph you'll be able to better see the difference than just listing the temps.
