I've tried pretty much all of this stuff. Most of it either doesn't work, or really isn't practical (things that require you to wash the washer after, or presoaking, etc. gets old when he's greasy daily). I wound up keeping his work clothes separate from his regular clothes so only a small amount of them get greasy, and wash them separately in warm water with a VERY small amount of citrus dish liquid (about 1 tablespoon) & borax powder with 2 rinses, that gets most of it out, but not all.

There is some cleaning stuff called Mean Green. You can get it in a container like bleach or in spray bottles. It cuts grease like you wouldn't believe. Spray some on the greasier stains and add some to the wash water. Just be sure to run your washer with a little of it and some detergent AFTER you wash his clothes and before you wash anything else. If the clothes have been in the dryer, the stains may not come out, as the dryer tends to set them. Good luck.

Get some basic eco-friendly. it extremely is a centred spray cleanser that does wonders on grease & oil stains on very nearly each and every little thing! it extremely is recent in hardware, automobile and a few decrease fee shops. in many instances, you may dilute the product yet for this reason, use it finished power. Saturate the section with the stain with the cleanser and positioned it down, stroll away for no less than an hour. Then once you come back returned, upload slightly water and rub with a delicate brush or basically rub the fabric jointly. Rinse away the suds which will arise. If evidently like the stain is lifting, bypass forward and wash them in the warmest water the fabric will enable. If the stain is being obdurate, hit it with the cleanser returned and enable it artwork some extra. in one day is nice, this cleanser would not take the colour out. Then wash. This time if the stain continues to be there once you're taking them out of the washer, do no longer dry them. cope with returned with the straightforward eco-friendly, provide 'em a scrub and wash returned. it ought to take a time or 2 yet i've got yet to have basic eco-friendly fail on motor oil or grease.

I wash my husbands greasy clothes using a good detergent like Tide or something. I use the full recommended amount of detergent for the load. I also put a scoop of Oxy-clean in the load of clothes. I wash them in hot water and follow with an extra rinse cycle. It doesn't get all the grease out but it does get a very good share of it. And, his clothes last well following this method of cleaning.
If your husband will use "Dickies" (or some brand of that sort) work clothes they are made for that kind of work and the harsher cleaning that is necessary you will find that a help. They come in blues and blacks that aid in hiding stains also.

my husband is an airplane mechanic. He and his whoel crew pour a can of coke in th ewash w/ their greasy uniforms. It eats away the grease! Afterwards, do an empty cycle to clean the machine out and it will be fine for other clothes.

in the old days (50's) gas was the cleaner of choice, but . . . . quite dangerous. small amt of gas on a small cloth, tighten cap right away on the container of gas.
soak in detergent, before placing in washer. If that doesn't work, let him wear them dirty, WHy would you clean grease off jeans and shirts anyway, they offer overalls for mechanics. Maybe He's do-it=yourself?

engine starting fluid [ether, very flamable!] is a good solvent. spray it on grease spot and blot dry with a clean rag or paper towel. there are 2 kinds of ether out there get the one for gasiline engines not diesels, the diesel one has an oil in it and does not clean as well.another advantage is how quickly it evaporates and dries.

My husband is also a mechanic. I pre-treat with SA8's Pre-wash Treatment Spray (spot treat right before you put into washing machine, don't leave it sit) then launder with laundry detergent and 1/8 cup all purpose bleach.
