microsoft internet explorer has red x's on yahoo and some other sites too.

That usually means that the picture is not found on the server trying hittinhg CTRL+R to refresh the page also maybe try updating INternet Explorer by going to www.microsoft.com and clicking downloads.

Have you checked your security level? Also, if you downloaded anything and later deleted all cookies, applications may not work. Example: I downloaded information from a legitimate site and copied/pasted the pictures into my Word document. Later on I cleaned house and deleted cookies. The next time I opened the file, the pictures were replaced by red "Xs."

This could be because you have display graphics turned off under advanced internet options, or you not have the proper software such as flash to display the image, or the image can not be found at the specified location.

your internet connection needs repairing nothing else, rest is all fine.
