I have a SBPCI Sound Card which is connected to my speeakers. I want to use my onboard sound card for receiving output thru my headphones so that i can shift to and from my speakers and headphones without bothering the wires. My pc does not acknowlege the presence of the creative sound card though i can see it in one of the slots behind the CPU. How to i set both of them up. I am no techie...i'll appriciate simple answers....

I didn't think it could be done, but after looking I see others are doing just what you want. See how others did it at this site.
Good luck

I don't think 2 will work at the same time without conflicting. I have not see any software that supports separate sound cards. When you plug in the headphones they naturally interrupt the speaker output. If you want to switch from headphone to speakers without removing the headphone plug you could set up a switch to do it. Good luck!

Just go to - control panel- system- hardware-device manager- find the sound card you want to turn off- right click disable. this should allow your computer to acknowlage the card you want to use.

under window, that uninstalled driver + became unidentified soundcard will be automatically detected and installed.....

so i agree that it should be removed first,
unlike the add on, the on board may have the turn off option in the cmos setup?
