I am at work and I am all caught up. I have nothing alse to do. I thaught I had an appointment today but it turns out it is next thursday. I havent told my boss yet that I found this out. Should I leave as planned and call later saying I made a mistake and the appointment is next week, or should I stay and complete my day?? I still have 6 hours here if I stay...
What would you do??

Stay and complete the day, get ahead a bit on something, then tell your boss about the changed appointment and request next Thursday for it. Your boss will think much better of you for your honesty.

I would let my boss know that the appointment had been rescheduled for next Thursday, and that you would be more than happy to stay and help out on another project.

I know it's a lie, but it's a harmless one that won't get anyone in trouble.

The next time I meet an advocate of phonics, I'm going to use your example of "caught" and "thaught." Great!

Oh, by the way, forget the job. Go to school, learn to organized your thoughts, and get more practice in writing cohesive and understandable questions.

First of all, thought is spelled like this "T-H-O-U-G-H-T." Second, your boss didn't get to the position s/he is in by falling for such nonsense. I'd recommend you stay or risk being caught in an obvious lie. Of course, you could leave today....if you come up with a better story. I'd fire you for lying to me.

If you need the money, I'd stay. If you want to take time off, I'd leave and then tell them later that the appt had to be re-scheduled or you need a follow up appt next week.

I think you should tell your boss up font and leave that decision to him. This way, you're in the clear.
