I am 8 wks pregnant. Tuesday I started bleeding heavy but I wasn't cramping. I went to the doctor yesterday and she said that the ultrasound showed blood outside of the placenta and I would probably have a little more spotting or discharge. Has anyone ever had bleeding outside of the placenta? Was your baby ok? The doctor didn't seem to think it was a bad thing.

I had this. It happens when the fertilized egg is implanting in the uterus and it burrows into a blood vessel. As long as they saw the baby's heartbeat all should be fine.

I had it too. My baby was born full-term and healthy. It does sound a bit scary, but I think you and you're baby will be just fine. If there was any other problem, it would have showed on the ultrasound. Good Luck!

that happens occasionally. best thing would be to take the medications your doctor has prescribed for you, and get off your feet for the next week or two. hopefully the bleed would have been resorbed by the time you have your next ultrasound and you'll have a healthy baby at the end of your term.

This happened to me, and my baby was born full term and healthy. I don't know why it happens, but it's a scary thing! Good luck.
