HELP! I was called into the benefit's office yesterday to be quizzed about benefit fraud. They have had a report (from my ex Husband) that I am claiming as a lone parent and living with someone.
I live with my parents and left him because of domestic violence. He's always threatening me, saying things like he's gonna make my life hell! I can't escape him!.
I can't believe he's sunk this low to do this to me!!!!
What do I do now?
Yes I do have a new boyfriend and I do visit him at his house. BUT I DON'T LIVE WITH HIM!!!
I know my ex is trying to get revenge on me for leaving.
Has anyone else had this problem? and how do I prove I AM innocent?

ALL my mail goes to my parents house, my passport driving licence, car insurance etc is also registered at my parents address.
I told the officer yesterday that I left him because of domestic violence and that he's just trying to get revenge because I hurt his ego when I finally got the courage to leave him.
He does pay child maintenance but he is always trying to find excuses to give not to pay. He sees his daughter 2 weekends out of 3. and everytime we have changeover, he throws insults at me all the time.

save any texts or emails that prove harrasment then if it is that bad you can get an injunction against him. does he pay maintenance? visit the child/ren often? where is your benefit paid, home or bank. your parents can provide a letter certifying your residency. it would be best for you to go to your nearest CAB to find out for what your rights are and where you stand legally. wish i could help more but details are a little sketchy.

If your ex is being abusive, talk to the police. They may be able to get a court restraining order on him. As long as you can prove that you are not living with your new man with an official letter from a bank or building society, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
Sort out your ex. First and foremost.

I have had my share of problems over the years. You must go to the police and report this.It has to be down on report. The benefit people cant do anything to you,you havent done anything. But you have to tell the police, then you have your evidence. It is the only solution to self guard yourself. This is harrassment. He needs an officer sent to his door,he cant go about telling lies like this.go and get it sorted

Just be honest with the investigation team, and give them all of the details... if you haven't done anything wrong, then don't worry about it...... I'm sure they must get a lot of false reports, but it is their duty to investigate it as there are a lot of people committing benefit fraud.

1. Get a decent solicitor to slam the B*****D with a restraining order.
2. Tell the DSS the truth (with written proof, if poss.) they will believe you!!!!!
3. Get on with your life and new fella!!!!! All the best.

It would make a lot of sense to me to explain your domestic situation to your benefits supervisor. You would, of course, ask her/him to keep your information confident else with one blab, the whole office would know about it.
