Formula users, are you aware that Brenda B has called YOU stupid, and called your babies STUPID as well?

Question

On several posts, she refers to formula feeding mothers as stupid, dumb, and says their kids are going to sickly and stupid, oh, and her and her La Leche League "professional" buddies sit around at their meetings and laugh at us who use formula. Oh, and she also beleives our babies need to be taken by CPS and given to a mother who will breastfeed it.

This IS WHY I do what I do.

BTW, your parenting probably SUCKS. No mother is perfect. EXCUSE the hell out of me for being honest about my hardships and seeking a kind soul who has been there. Ever had PTSD? Ever had PPD? Together? You can go to hell. So what, I proudly served my country and have trauma from it, I had PPD and I am being treated. My psychiatrist thinks I am a GREAT mother, and since he's got a PHd, treats me, sees me and my kids every 2 weeks, and is not a nutjob, I think he's in a better position to judge my parenting than YOU are. WELL I HATE TO TELL HER AS A MOTHER OF 3 STRAPPING SONS ALL HEALTHY AND BIG WERE FORMULA FEED AND NON OF THE 3 ARE STUPID. Honestly, it's funny to me that she would assume babies (and mothers alike) are stupid, dumb, etc. My first child was formula fed and is VERY smart. She's way above other kids her age as far as intelligence goes. My second was formula fed as well and is talking up a storm. She is 1 year old (16 months actually), and talks more than the 2 year olds that she is around (at church and stuff) that were BREASTFED.

Everything is different from one child to the next. Formula feeding, breastfeeding, whatever the case may be.. we are good moms for providing for our children. Some women can NOT make milk.. then what? Just assume you and your child are STUPID because of this? No.

She sounds very ignorant and uneducated. That is also part of the reason I have been discouraged about breastfeeding. I've considered it this time (I'm almost 9 months pregnant now), but after talking to a breastfeeding psycho the other day I am just like "Lord, PLEASE don't make me that way".. why judge someone else because of how they feed their child??? We are all MOTHERS... we should be joining TOGETHER not fighting about idiotic issues. My kids are HEALTHY (healthier than the breastfed kids they are around, actually), HAPPY, and well taken care of...... as well as FORMULA FED!

Well, I'm a mother with two kids-my first was so premature that she never learned to nurse. I pumped for her for the first month but b/c I had an emergency c-section and was knocked out with meds b/c of my blood pressure, I missed on the first days (my breasts were 40DD when I left 3 days later and she was less than 5lbs.)

My new baby is 5 months and was also premature. I breastfed her from day one but had NO support b/c I don't have family and I live in the middle of nowhere. So-physically and mentally I couldn't keep up with the routine and my overactive 2 yr old.

To say someone is stupid b/c they don't/can't breastfeed is not in standing with La Leche League either-I have lots of friends there. She missed the whole friggin point of the LLL and should not represent herself as part of them. They would NEVER treat someone like that.

OK! I guess if you can't breastfeed, then let your child starve? Really, get a life! I have 3 very smart children! Each breastfed for 2 days, then,uh oh, were put on formula!!Who cares about the kids who are neglected or abused and lets sick CAS(CPS) on the "non" breastfeeding mothers. That would solve everyone's problems, right? Let me guess, this Brenda B is a vegetarian too?lol
My son at 2 was running the computer, counting and saying his alphabet. God,formula sucks!!lol
My nephew was breastfed, he has allergies and has asthma.
Gotta love all those holier than though mothers who think their way is the right way, and there is no other way.

Ok and this lady can kiss my ***, for one I have an 11 year old son and I wasnt able to breast feed him by the orders of the doctor because my entire system was poisoned from the pregnancy therefore my milk was contaminated so what was I suppose to do go against doctors orders and poison my infant??? My second son and Im a single mom I had to go right back to work after I had him so I didnt have the time to breats feed or pump, both my kids are 11 and 6 now and are extremly healthy boys, so that lady needs to shut the f*ck up!!!!

I think she is insecure and holding on to you. It is hard for parents to let you grow up- they still see as that little needy kid and they want that forever sometimes. I do not like that she calls you stupid- tell her how you feel about that! She may not change but it is not good for you so do not believe it. You are doing good! Remind her of that ! Maybe at some point you could move out with friends and share an apt. or house? Many colleges have boards where people post looking for room mates. Maybe you should see the school counselor- many offer this for free now! Especially since you are so stressed! Good Luck

If that's all true, then it's really rude of her. I'm totally for breastfeeding, and do feel that everyone should at least try; but I wouldn't call someone names because they chose not to. To call someone stupid is really immature. Yes it's true that breastfeeding is good for the baby's brain, but that doesn't mean a child will be dumb if they're not breastfed. That is why La Leche Legaue gets such a bad name. It's the few who take it to another level. They are supposed to be encouraging breastfeeding, not tearing down those who dont do it.

Yes, I am very aware of this. Until she sees my child in person or becomes a baby expert she has no right to call my child stupid. And she does this and then gets mad when people try to defend their children. I hate to tell her but that's another thing about being a mom...you have the instinct to protect your children from people like her. But I decided I wouldn't worry about it too much anymore since we all know now that she was formula fed as a child so I guess she's just stupid like the rest of us. LOL!

LET'S SEE I HAVE 3 VERY VERY HEALTHY STRONG BOYS ( 3 , 7 AND 10 ) WHO WERE ALL FORMULA FED , MANY NIECES AND NEPHEWS TOO. I WAS ALSO FORMULA FED .
BREAST FEEDING ISN'T FOR EVERY BODY AND SOME PEOPLE CAN'T. BRENDA B CAN SHOVE HER HOLIER THEN NOW ATTITUDE , AS FAR AS I'M CONCERN A MOTHER CAN DO WHAT EVER SHE FEELS IS BEST FOR HER CHILD . THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH FORMULA FED BABIES AND SOME ARE EVEN HEALTHIER THEN BREAST FED ONES.

To each her own...I chose not to breastfeed because it fit me and my family...I don't care who breastfeeds or not if my children are stupid and I am stupid then so be it... I am a full time college student who takes care of 2 children under the age of 2 and a hubby...i also have a GPA of 3.91 and made the deans list so yep I must be stupid..As far as my children they seem to be happy and healthy to me No my 22 month old cannot read or play on carnigie hall but he sure can use a screwdriver! That;s good enough for me a formula using mom...

I went and read that post, and yes the more additions she made, the more hostile and defensive she became. Attacking the mentality of someone's precious child is no way to convince them of your view point. My labor was induced due to pre-eclampsia. I breast fed my sons as long as I could, but my bIood pressure wasn't getting any better so I had to take diuretics for my blood pressure and they dried my milk up. I don't think my sons suffered in the least. Additionally, my niece was never breastfed and she is one of the most advanced children in her class. Breast feeding doesn't effect intelligence, it lends the mother's immunities to the child for a bit longer, and keeps them from getting as sick in some cases.
