To remove airbag for repair work, you need a special tool thet kinda looks like a 2 fingered claw, you might be able to do it with 2 vsmall\flat screw drivers, but it will be tuff, the holes are in the back of the steering wheel

you can disconect the battery from the pickup for a mininum of 20 mins before doing anywork on the airbag, but be careful keepo your face away from the bag incase it goes off, like the first answer you got i wouldnt suggest you remove it unless you are a trained mechanic
