and Mexico pleaded with us to get rid of them and not support them or allow them into our government, but we ignored their requests, would you expect Mexico to just sit back and say "Oh well!"? Or would you expect them to take action? If American children were killed in this "action", would you blame Mexico? Or our government?

This, for those who haven't figured it out, is related to the Israel/Lebanon war. I believe Israel has every right to defend against Hezbollah and their supporters.

If we housed a terrorist group that was lobbing missiles into Mexico WE would certainly be responsible for them. I believe the terrorist would find that it would not be to their benefit to establish this type of environment on US soil. Remember Waco? And they hadn't even shot any one yet.

I assume you're talking about a hypothetical mexico and its hypothetical USA neighbor.

The USA has a splinter group that is fairly large, doesn't really pay its taxes, and is well armed. Rather than going into the army they arm themselves so that they can basically act by themselves. They build roads and schools. They offer police protection. People love them. The group grow so powerful that the government cannot control them, without civil war. This group hates Mexico, because Mexico resides on a crappy piece of dirt that belongs to 20 million people exiled (scaled) into the USA. (The Mexican refused to accept nothing other than this land when they had their chance.) This large militant organization was built specifically to force Mexico out of the USA last time the USA took territory. Mexican have been there a while now, and they are powerful enough that its unlikely they can be moved without genocide type warfare.

For this reason the US militants attack Mexico. The USA does not support the attack, but can't do much more than posture. Mexico defends itself and invades. No real surprise there. Civilians die all over the place. No surprise there either.

The US weakened by the existance of the militant group sits and watches, as its citizens are killed. The USA postures its pitiful military against the Mexicans, because it needs too, but there really is no conflict. It's not the Mexican's fault that children died. It's not the USAs fault the children died. It's the power-hungry freedom for themselves loving militants. They bring "glory" on themselves by accepting dirty money and refusing to help their own country by normal means, instead choosing to work like a country inside of a country. They basically bribe the populace with schools and roads and power, and little can be done about it. Especially when, half of the other countries in the world (I'm trying to be to scale) give the militants money. The USA can't possibly stop them from bribing the populace in this way.

I hope this helps you understand the "Mexico-USA" conflict.

Many of the people of Lebanon, realize they have been enjoying the fruits of oil money imported from other countries to keep their illegal "army" in high esteem. It is the governments fault for not getting rid of it when it was weaker. It is Israel's fault for being in Lebanon so long, that Hezbollah became part of culture. It is Israel and Palestine's fault that there are so many displaced people living in Lebanon. It is several countries fault that they gave tons of money to Hezbollah in order to have power in Lebanon. It is the western world's fault that a third party area had to pay a price in land for the horrible death in WW2. I am sure there is even more complexity if you care to look.

Such as the weapons being used are a result of WW3 or "The Cold War." Many of them being part of arsenals, or sold as a result of Russia being destitute because of the struggle. Or the resulting US debt.

Well, first of all, what is considered a terrorist group? Liberals always ask this, because they don't consider palestine fighters terrorists. If this group sought to kill the president of mexico, I'd figure the US would step in, and try to take them down.
However, if this was a group of citizens, who wanted the country to change it's boneheaded policies(mexico, is a backwards country, no wonder everyone's leaving it), then they'd probably get support from our country....Mexico needs to wake up, and understand why no one wants to live there....and why the peso is worth about as much as toilet paper.

In other words, why doesn't the United States follow the Golden Rule?

Because our leadership is selfish and arrogant. Our leadership does things to other countries we wouldn't allow to happen to us.

This makes us the world's biggest bully, and it's at least part of the reason folks in the rest of the world may hate or fear us.

We should treat the rest of the world the way we expect to be treated. This is the Golden Rule, and my mom taught it to me when I was 3 years old.
