coz actually, in quite a lot counties, your piece of property is large enough for you to actually go from first into second gear when you move your car from the gate to the parking spot which, in these countries is called a garage lol. so basically, it IS a drive way, and you park in the garage.

Same reason a parkway is called a parkway when you are not allowed to park on it.

b/c it is
a way to drive
to get to someone's home. even if you just park, you have to drive up to park there.

ever thought the reason is , because you actually have to physically ' drive ' on it , to park.

You cant just float in !!!
