race does not exist. it is an illusion. it is a concoction of institutions.
there is no such thing as black, asian, white, etc.
mexicans used to be considered "white" then mexican then "white"
The recognition and label of being "white" had to be obtained through the court system in the United States (unless you were Northern Europeon or the one making the laws). Italians, Irish, Jews, had to fight to obtain the benefits that come along with being "white." There is no such thing as a "White" person. Everyone comes from somewhere. There is no "whiteland" or magical place where "whiteness" is made and distributed. We've made it up and perpetuated this "white" myth, this racial myth.
There is no more sense to classifying people by skin color than by eye color or natural hair color, or height, or nose size or skull size, etc. We could indeed attribute qualities and stereotypes to "blue eyed" people, "brown eyed" people, etc. It makes just as much sense as classifying by skin color.
Hopefully, this myth will be wiped out and looked at as archaic, misinformed, and regrettable.
