It depends on what you mean by "how long does it take". There is no end point in learning guitar, it goes into infinity. I practiced every day since I was nine years old (I am thirteen now) and I have gotten really good. The only advice i can give you is to practice whenever possible and keep on playing.

Yes, I think it is very cool, and how long it takes depends on how good your teacher is and how much you practice in between lessons.
Practice, practice, practice!!

Most people I've seen learn go along learning and learning and one day they just suddenly "get it" and it all makes sense to them.

Some people pick it up immediately, (my son did) and some people have to work a little harder. It depends on the person. If you work hard, you should be able to play in a couple of months. Good luck.

I think it's cool you're trying to learn how to play guitar. It's hard at first but you will get the hang of it. You have to learn and memorise all the chords and learn to read music sheets. Good luck :)
