Why do we keep patting our criminals on the back? Why do we keep giving them excuses for their crimes? We live in a country where we want to toss a guy in the big house and throw away the key for smoking a joint but we let a woman off the hook for DROWNING her FIVE kids!!?? Are we really that backwards?

20 years ago I would have be shocked...but not today. Many folks tried to warn society about the incrementalism that would result from legalized abortion and euthanasia. We now live in a culture of death...where the right to personal convenience outweighs the right to life.

In effect, Ms. Yates did nothing different than somebody who has a late-term abortion.

Yes, she was deemed to be insane...but isn't it true that any mother who would murder her child is inherently insane...regardless of whether she drowns them or hires a hit-man (abortionist) to do the trick?

Better understanding the complexities of the human brain and how to treat anamolies is not the same thing as the politically driven stupidity of our drug laws. They are mutually exclusive.
Establishing that a person's brain was/is so malfunctioning, for whatever reasons, as to render that person in need of psychiatric treatment either before, or instead of, conviction and punishment is a good thing. To incarcerate a person for many, many years is extremely costly to society. And necessary for the safety of society. Incarcerating someone who can, with treatment, be a contributing member of society, is better for everyone. Ms. Yates has to live every minute of every day of the rest of her life carrying the burdon of her actions. That is a pretty heavy sentence.

Stupid drug laws and punishment practices are another issue alltogether. I'm afraid my answers/opinions on that topic would cause the moderators of this site to delete my response!

Also, placement in a psychiatric facility is not "getting off". It will be a locked facility with very, very rigorous standards for maintaining custody.

People do the most horrific things to one another for so many reasons.....and the reasons must be a big part of the equation when we are determining what the response should be......

Have a great day!

A guy should be thrown in jail for smoking a joint, but a woman who drowns her own children deserves to be drown as well. Of course she's insane! You'd have to be to do something like that. Who, in their right mind, would do anything like that?

I were given scared the first time I heard that tale. i concept-about each and each and every of the moms I knew who "needed a destroy" and wondered if any of the little youthful little ones I knew were in threat of similar issues occurring. yet I under no circumstances knew many information. Now that I have study the records on the link you printed - The poor father. he ought to stay with the guilt of what he has done for something of his existence. the completed relations will probable ask your self "what if" and favor that they had done issues in a special way that day. It makes no experience to me. with your mom is the only position that you're meant to be completely secure and loved. And as an grownup - you're meant to well known what percentage little ones you could deal with and delivers up attempting to conceive once you're close to that reduce. yet, this lady develop into mentally ill. So i wager she did no longer have the basic experience to do issues properly. both that or she did not care adequate to apply it. What ought to were done? possibly the docs must have lower than pressure how major that is this lady no longer be left on my own such as her little ones. i don't think of the daddy understood how serious this develop into. nonetheless, i'm optimistic the docs did not recognize both. in the different case they does no longer have released her. each and every individual has their moments at the same time as they choose a destroy. So i imagine that putting forward she must have had her little ones taken away may be somewhat intense. ... yet yeah, it ought to be impressive if lets arise with a sturdy thanks to judge human beings and what their little ones will be like previously permitting them to reproduce.

The point is this: there is no devil or satan to blame.
Only Andrea is to blame...she IS the devil.

Until our legal system writes laws that subscribe to this belief ( which essentially means we take responsibility for our actions), then we can expect to see more murderers using the devil option to cop out of a jail sentence.

Amen, it makes me sick, they should almost drown her and keep at it a couple of days before they finally do it. Can you imagine what her kids went through?

Agree. We live in the land of "bleeding hearts" where everything under the sun is politically correct. We'll eventually destroy ourselves with this mindset.
