I am traveling to Vancouver next week, and I saw that the temps will be in the high 60s during the day. Since I am from the south US, I am so not used to this type of weather in the summer. I am going to bring long sleeve shirts and such, but what type of shoes should I bring? Is it too cold to wear open toe shoes?

It's summer! You don't need long sleeve shirts and such. Bring one if you want protection from the sun. And please do wear open toed shoes. When you arrive, you'll see most of the women are wearing tank tops or sun tops of some kind, and mostly they will be in shorts or very light weight cotton skirts. And wearing flip flops or sandals.
The exceptions will be people who work indoors in air conditioned offices, who still feel compelled to wear suits, ties and that sort of thing. But they shuck them off as soon as they leave work.
Vancouver is very casual, very laid back, and lovely in the summer. The evenings can get a bit on the cool side (although they haven't lately) so you might want to bring ONE light sweater or jacket to wear in the evening.
Have a wonderful time in our city. Hope you're here for the Festival of Lights -- the international fireworks competition that is on this coming Saturday, next Wednesday and the following Saturday night. If you're staying in the downtown area, you're in luck -- it's free, and about 400,000 people attend.

it's supposed to be sunny and cloudy with rain on some days over the next 2 weeks, bring a little bit of everything. Yes bring open toe shoes but also runners or some other shoes. Bring a sweater or 2 an unbrella and singlasses, bring pants and shorts -welcome to Vancouver (and the joys of dressing here:) )

vancouver is a cool place, so i suggest you bring comfy walking shoes or sneakers that keep you warm. i'm not sure about open toe shoes, but you can bring them in case the weather changes. this is just my suggestion ^^

wear your open toed shoes...and the weather is beautiful...don't forget that the weather forecast is for the airport and much to the city is warmer...you'll be fine in short sleeves..maybe long at night....You won't be sweltering hot but you won't be cold either.
