It's really a problem! There is a book called the "Bad Speller's Dictionary," or something similar, but since you're asking this question online, you have a much easier solution. If you use MyWay (and probably lots of others too), you can put a dictionary/thesaurus right on your homepage, and if you enter the word spelled wrong, the program will give you a whole list of suggestions as to what you might have meant! I use this method all the tyme (or is that thyme?)...

Ah what a good question. Even though most have Internet access, it would be hard to look up a word that you didn't know how to spell, because there are thousands of words in the dictionary. Kind of like people asking you where you lost something. How are you supposed to know? Isn't that after all why you are looking for it?

Guess and keep trying until you find it or use google to type in your word and they'll give you a correct spelling and use the correct spelling to find the word in the dictionary.

I completely agree. Once, I asked someone how to spell Fahrenheit and they told me to look it up in the dictionary. I tried, but didn't know that it had an "h" in it.

try typing it into a google search, to the best way it sounds like it is spelled, It will automatically correct you and make suggestions. Same as you spell check in mail, and it gives suggestions to the correct spelling

If you know the first few letters then you can still look it up - it might take a while but you'll get there - or you could ask just someone with a higher IQ.

Type in how you think you spell it and the website with offer some alternate spellings if its wrong.

go to the Merriman webster website and type in howyou think it is spelled if you are incorrect it will offer up variations and possibilities of words that are close,

if you have WORD on your computer, try typing it the way it sounds. it will recognize it as wrong and you can click on spellcheck for the correct spelling. take it from there.....
