Loch Lomond is one of Scotland’s best Lochs for salmon, sea trout and coarse fishing (especially pike). Salmon and pike of thirty pounds and sea trout of ten pounds are caught most years. With the introduction in recent years of the live bait “ruffe” the balance has changed with increasing numbers of pike and decreasing numbers of salmon and trout.
The season for salmon and sea trout is 11th Feb to 31st Oct, fishing by fly or trolling with large bait for salmon and smaller bait for sea trout. The record salmon is 44lbs 8oz. The record sea trout is 22lbs 8oz.
There is no close season for coarse fishing. Trolling from a moving boat is not allowed when coarse fishing. The record pike is 47lbs 11oz.
Day and weekly game and coarse fishing angling permits can be purchased from Balmaha boat yard (www.balmahaboatyard.co.uk) , tourist information centres, local hotels etc. The Angling map of Loch Lomond and season permits for game and coarse fishing can be purchased from the Secretaries of the Loch Lomond Angling Improvement Association, 379 Hamilton Rd., G71 7SG Tel: 0141 781 1545. The River Endrick, flowing by Drymen, is also excellent for salmon and brown trout, as well as course fish. Loch Lomond itself is also famed for its salmon, trout and coarse fishing, again with small boats available for hire.

u can catch fish anywhere, as long as they can reach the place, i wouldn't recommend casting ur line into the middle of the lake if ur at the shore line.
A fish will finish ur bate in 30 seconds and the line is so long that u can't even feel it.
I would use a boat of possible
otherwise, cast close to the shore, u'll catch a few small ones
