I doubt it very much. There have been wars for as long as anyone can remember, and people of every age since the beginning of time have thought that each of their big wars was "the war to end all wars." Even in 1000 AD, people thought it was the "end times." People have thought that all through history, ever since Jesus died, and it's never been true. There are always wars and natural disasters and diseases and such, and some years they're worse than others. That doesn't mean it's the "end times," though.

The only way this one could become that one would be if Bush and Israel have destabilized the Middle East so much with all their mucking about that the moderates (in the Lebanese government, for instance) get marginalized and the religious zealots become the popular choice of the muslim/arabic people.

But, even then, it would have to happen in a country that already possessed nukes (or some other tech that could wipe out humanity, which is the only thing that would stop all wars). Iraq didn't even have WMDs... The Palestinians are throwing rocks and the occasional rocket (with a max range of 45 miles). They aren't exactly going to be devastating the rest of the world with that technology...

This latest incursion into Lebanon, for instance, really was a mistake. What it's mainly accomplished is to demonstrate for the Lebanese people that their moderate, western-backed government can't keep them safe, and that only Hezbollah will stand up to the Israelis and Americans. That's a HUGE step backwards in the region, and Israel certainly didn't think it through very well.

For it to be the BIG WAR, though, nukes would have to be used, and that would pretty much require at least one of those other nuke-possessing governments (Pakistan, for instance) to fall, and for the country to fall into the hands of extremists.

More likely, you'll see one more attack here in the U.S. (of some sort), after which Bush will declare martial law (and possibly "postpone" elections). And, very likely, I think the U.S. will end up nuking at least one country in that region (Iran? Syria?) to make a Hiroshima-esque point. That, of course, would throw oil into severe shortage here in the U.S., and things would become very difficult around here (to say the least).

Anyway, unless we go up against someone with nukes to throw around, it won't be the war to end all wars. It takes only a couple of hundred megatons to blanket the entire earth in a radioactive, nuclear winter that would wipe out all life on the planet, but you still need those megatons. Nobody we're fighting at the moment has those...

The war being fought in Lebanon is quite different from the many wars fought in the Middle East , as I have mentioned in other answers of different topics the outcome of this war is still unpredictable(theory of Art of War applies ) even though many like it to end their designated way to correct the mistakes and ill-advised strategy they have made in history .

But one thing is sure, this is the major "offensive"(to the US and Iarael is "defensive") probably post the 1965 Israeli and Palestine war ,and the design of the warfare is to create history
and turn the table on the adversaries .as I have explained in my answers that strike them hard and deep unprepared and unexpectedly is the obviuosly the defensive turn offensive or in the disguise of defensive as required by the developmental of tatical to achieve the desired psycological purpose to badly shake up the enemy in the battle and pave the way for further and smoother excursions to explore new solution to the conflicts
.
Lets watch the developments on the battle fronts, and how the Iranian and its sprinter groups including A-Queda and its fundamental groups response to the turn -offensive war fare of Israel in Lebenon .

This is the beginning of something new...
yet another country stepping up against Arab Muslims.

I think the world (Including good and decent Muslims) is getting tired of whats going on and finally deciding this is more than a JUST CAUSE.
