Politically speaking, words only mean what the speaker wants them to at the moment of the speech. Both sides are to blame for corrupting language but the left has been far better at this than the right. When a left-winger speaks of equality, they generally mean equality of outcome. In other words, everyone should make X dollars and hour (be taxed X dollars), get X benefits, be able to marry whatever species, age, or gender they want, etc. When a conservative (generally) uses the word equality, they are speaking of equality before the law and opportunity. Everyone has access to a high school education (though we can never make the quality of that education exactly equal due to variables like teacher quality), equal chance for a job that a person is qualified for regardless of class, race, religion, etc., access to due process in courts.

The word equality means anything to the person speaking it which ultimately makes it mean nothing. If you watch closely, you will notice that when a leftist thinks he/she is losing an argument, he/she will start to change the meanings of words to gain control of the argument. Of course that all depends on what your definition of "is" is...

It's not that it doesn't mean something, it's that it isn't enforced by most of society. Those who don't want equality are those with the most to lose if it actually is enforced and people are treated as equals. It will never really be there, but just like all good ideas and philosophies, it will never die as long as we keep striving for it. Good question!!

I really dont think so, becausre there is so much overt racism and sexism in the world. And it will never change. Or at least not anytime soon. I think we might not have some of the problems we have overseas if they also believed in Equality.

No. It has been hijacked by fringe groups, which support extremest agenda's.
