You should NEVER diet during your pregnancy. Exercise is HIGHLY recommended as long as it is done prudently, and vitamins are a MUST, and eating a healthy balanced diet is also a very good thing, but dieting is NEVER a good thing. Your baby is going to need ALL the nutrients it can get, and depriving your body of ANYthing is going to deprive your baby.
BTW, a vast majority of women will end up losing some weight during the 1st trimester due to morning sickness anyway; restricting your caloric intake would only make matters worse!

Most women, due to morning sickness, may or may not lose weight in the first trimester. It is not suggested to diet to lose weight during any part of your pregnancy. If the weight loss is great, and there is concern, speak with your OB/GYN about adjusting your prenatal vitamin strength. Remember, any weight gain you have during pregancy can be lost after the baby is born...try not to worry about gaining weight. This is a time in your life where you should feel your pregnant body is the most beautiful!

there is no safe time during a pregnancy to lose weight, you are storing weight to produce milk after the birth, not just coz u are making a whole new person, well that too!! If you are taken by the lovely filmstars that seem to be back to shape within weeks, well most of the them dont breastfeed and they also have personal trainers and dieticians. be prepared to put on weight or you won't enjoy or compliment your pregnancy. with advice from your doc some amount of exercise is very good so atleast you won't put on unhealthy amount of weight, like some people do.

Yes. Talk to you doctor about it. I didn't gain any weight until I was 5 months pregnant and then I only gained a total of 11 pounds with a 9lb 1.6oz baby. With my second I only gained 4 lbs period. She weighted 8lbs 6.3 oz. However if you are a skinny person your doctor might worry about it. I was not skinny but not very overweight either. By my second one my doc knew that the baby would be big and that I would not gain much. Good luck to you.

NO, you shouldn't diet during pregnancy it's not healthy for the baby, some kinds of exercise is fine, but you really should talk to your doctor about what kind of exercises are okay. Wait until the baby is born to lose any weight you're wanting to lose!

No, but you could end up losing weight anyway if you end up with morning sickness. You should always exercise through-out your pregnancy anyway to keep healthy, always check with your OB to make sure it is ok. Just don't over do it if you are not used to it.

As long as you are getting the proper nutrition there is not a problem with losing weight. If you are losing it quickly then you should definately talk to your OB about it. I am sure that at your next appointment if you have dropped too much that something will be said to you.
