Case in point... Gordon and Kenseth? There are others too.

Personally I think it should go back to the old days when the drivers did it all the time! Most of these wussies out there driving today would have never made it in Petty's day or Sr's day! They would have been laughed off the track for being so whiny! Stewart is one of the few out there that can drive as aggressively as they did back in the day!

OK people, I will let you in on a secret. Here's how it used to be. I bump you once to let you know I'm faster than you are and I'm here. I bump you twice to convince you to make an effort to let me by and you are really holding me up. On the third bump, I move you out of the way. If I'm good enough you just slide up out of my groove and I go on by-no harm, no foul. But sometimes you lose control of your car and spin or hit the wall. I don't think the drivers in the Cup series are using the 3 bump rule anymore. It's just one bump and gone. With only a few laps left in the race, if a faster car is running second, he is going to hit the leader. It's up to the leader to figure out how hard he wants to fight. Slow cars need to move out of the way most of the time, unless it's the last lap. Bumping and blocking are part of racing - any kind of racing (except drag), but the blocking is getting a little ridiculous.

Okay, I agree I like the old days as well. None of the guys would have made it. But I say the bumping can stay because they all seem to pay for it. When Kenseth bumped Gordon earlier this year it gave Jeff a bad finish and then vice versa. So both drivers paid for it any way you look at it, oh yeah and dont forget those 10,000 and 25,000 dollar fines that the drivers can EASILY pay. Nascar will always have the "redneck" sports image because in the first ever race televised there was a fist fight between 2 drivers after they wrecked each other near the end of the race. I say if you change anything about it, it would be keep it on the track and nowhere else. Don't argue about it off of the track, leave it behind you, and finish the deal in the week's after. I think it is good for the sport because it draws more fans every week. The commentators can say how bad it is all they want to but the fans enjoy this kind of stuff when it isn't their favorite driver. Oh yeah and about the fans that throw stuff on the racetrack, not if someone wrecks somebody because that's what they paid to see. But when Nascar ended the race under caution at Talledega and gave the win to Jeff Gordon, you should throw stuff at Nascar officials that make the calls not at the driver. And that crap last year in the Pepsi 400 where they ran the first 10 laps under caution I say we don't do that either that isn't fair to the rest of the field even though Gordon won the race because you never know what is going to happen.
Thats all I have to say so I'll talk to you next week after Smoke and Edwards get back into it.

There are some cases in which I see bumping fit for the occurance. There are other times in which it was uncalled for and just putting people at risk. Now, don't get me wrong.. I'm a firm believer in Rubbin' is Racin'.. however, I don't want to see any of these driver's hauled out in body bags or severly injured b/c someone got a little out of control with some bumping, or slam drafting as it was referred to before the opening Daytona 500.

I think there are times in which bumping is inevitable, and okay. However, there are certain drivers who don't know when it's appropriate or not and if those penalties didn't stand in the way I think there would be more incidents in which injuries/totalled cars were more likely to occur, and I think it would just create complete chaos.

It's not even bumping to win..It's bumping period. I think Nascar takes a look at each incident differntly with each situation concerning it. The past few weeks of on track incidents have been different, and they have dealt with them differently.

Rules get selectively enforced. Better to have dentable edges to the cars so that anyone smashing another car would have the edge of his car flattened, giving himself an aerodynamic penalty or worse. Then the drivers would enforce themselves.

But yeah, if someone bumps to take someone out and actually win? That should bring out a red flag that ends the race before the hit, and the offender penalyzed a lap to boot.

But all that would change the roller derby aspect of the sport, the intoxicated redneck bump and grind would end, and then instead of "tracks too tough to tame" and the "spincycle", you'd have the "Commuter 500." We already have that going to and from work everyday.

I don't!

If you do that, then you should do the same for bumping the entire race...and there is no way they would honor that!

I do think they need stricter penalties on rough racing..."case in point" Stewart and Edwards..."there are others, too" (including Stewart and Kenseth)!

I think rough racing is more dangerous than bumping! Bumping is part of racing!

Sorry, I am trying to be nice!

One more thing though, about Earnhardt...these rules all changed with his death!

Earnhardt Sr. used to do it all the time. It was just a part of racing. I think NASCAR has too many rules as it is. I would rather see a race that is exciting. As it is now, I find the races becoming more and more boring. Especially the flat tracks.

Bumping should be allowed. I wish it would be like it was in the good ole days. Back when they could bump because the other drivers knew how to drive. Stewart needs to quit his whining and listen to his own preaching. He is too good a driver to let his temper always get the best of him.

No let the drivers work it out among themselves it's more interesting that way.I think the rivalries between drivers is fun to watch ,as long as no one gets hurt.In my opinion NASCAR already does too much to try to project a squeaky clean image I mean come on folks it's Auto racing,I say let em go.

Bumping is part of racing. If there is a guy in front of you that is clearly slower than you, then give em a little tap, nothing wrong with that. Now if someone clearly shoves someone out of the way, then they should be black flagged, points took away, and fined money.

you forgot to mention the bumping done by Stewart for some of his wins,,,should they take his wins away for his driving style? You make Tony Stewart out to be some sort of angel,,,he's not,,,let him cause an accident/wreck,,,and its someone else's fault,,,let him get wrecked by another driver,,and you deem them as a bad driver that should be penalized!!
