The middle ages began in 476 d.c (fall of the western Roman Empire) and most historians would say it ended in either 1453 (fall of Constantinople to the Turks) or 1492 (discovery of America). Which event do you like the most to put an end to the middle ages?? you can choose...

It can also be divided into 3 different periods;
476 d.c - circa 1000 d.c, the dark ages, plenty of invasions and Vikings, Saracens, Slavs, Magyars, and very rough living; circa 1000 d.c - circa1300 d.c typically medieval age, big times for feudalism and crusades; and circa1300 d.c - 1453 or 1492, later middle ages, the beginning of renaissance.

Between ca. 500 and ca. 1500 CE.

The dates historians use for the difinition of the medieval period are either 451 (the fall of Rome to the Barbarians) or 476 (the official end of the Western Roman Empire) as the begin of the Middle Ages; and either 1453 (the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks) or 1492 (the end of Muslim rule in Spain and the discovery of the Americas by Europeans) as the end of medieval times.

The Sociey for Creative Anachronism (SAC) tries to protray medieval times, and their members are asked to create a character who lived between 500 and 1500 a.d., so I would assume those would be roughly the times. The Renaissance started in Italy about that time, and that was the end of the Dark Ages, or medieval times.

Medieval times are concidered to have begun with the sack of Rome in ~ BCE 475. The Rennasance began in the Italian states in the mid 1400's. The thousand year period in between is what we comanly refer to as medieval times.

Roughly 800-1300 depending upon which part of Europe you are researching.

The Middle Ages ended earlier in Italy and lasted longer in places like Germany because of feudalism.
