I like some of these answers stating that Great Britain disn't exist!

Where was it?

The British Isle make up all of the Islands including Ireland, Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Orkneys, Shetlands, and all other islands around Scotland.... and of course the Biggest Island of the British Isles - Great Britain or (GB). The Great just stands for the size as it's the biggest of the Islands and is made up from England, Scotland and Wales.

The Anglo-Saxons rules England before 1066.

England Before 1066

Well, now.
The House of Essex ruled from 802 until 1016, with the following kings.
Aethelwolf
Aethebald
Aethelburt
Aelthedred
Alfred the Great
Edward the Elder
Athestan
Edmund
Eldred
Edwig
Edgar
Edward the Manager
Aethelfred the Unready
Edmund Ironside.
Then the succession was taken over by Danes, who conquered the Island in 1016 and held it until 1066, when it returned to the Wessex Line.
Prior to the House of Wessex, there were numbers of clans and tribes, such as Boedecia, who was queen of one of the tribes during the time of the Romans.
There are long lists of British rulers, but when you say Great Britain, the field narrows a great deal, as Great Britain takes in Scotland (which was an independent kingdom until James II became king of both Scotland and England) Ireland (part of which is still separate from Great Britain) and Wales.
So technically, no one ruled Great Britain before 1066, because there wasn't a great britain. But there was an England, and the names listed above were English rulers.
Hope this helps!

GB is short for Great Britain which is the geographical name of the largest island of the British Isles.
Before !066 King Harold ruled the part called England. Scotland had a separate king and Wales was ruled by a prince.

Well firstly, GB did not exist in 1066 as Scotland, Ireland and Wales had not joined the union.

So, as to who ruled england....

Saxons until 1066
Danes for a few years (Canute)
Britons (after romans until the saxons invaded)
Romans (until about 350ad)

before that various celtic tribes
