why did big show fight Undertaker instead of Kahli

Khali was suffering from a higher level of enzymes in his system affecting his liver. The WWE wanted to play it safe and keep him out of action till it is healed. This is the same thing plaguing Super Crazy currently and Bobby Lashley.

The Big Show and The Great Khali ambushed The Undertaker, so Teddy Long made The Big Show take on The Taker. So, of course, The Big Show lost, like he always does against The Undertaker.

The Great Khali has a Liver Disease & could not face The Undertaker at The Great American Bash last Sunday Night. So Big Show instead faced the dead man in the Punjabi Prison match, in which the Undertaker did win.

translation: Kahli sucks, and would not have been able to pull the match off. Since Undertaker's big thing is stupid gimmick matches (ring of fire, coffin match, buried alive match, etc.) he wanted it to go off with someone who could at least speak the language.
Look for Kahli to soon be gone for good anyway. He'll never be a staple in the company or the industry because, well, he just can't talk to save his life.

The Undertaker didn't fight him. He fought Big Show. There are rumors that Kahli's liver enzymes were high, too, like Lashley's, but I'm not sure that is right. I haven't heard. But, you didn't miss anything. That was the most boring cage match I've ever seen in my life!!!

The Wrestling Observer reports that The Great Khali has also been pulled from The Great American Bash due to a liver issue.

ECW Champion Big Show will replace Khali in the Punjabi Prison match against The Undertaker.

The need to feature Big Show at “The Bash” was the main reason WWE cancelled the ECW shows, although it’s very possible other ECW names will appear.

Undertaker has been loyal to the company longer than anyone. He has never taken long breaks He deserves to be part time now. He has been through every gimmick the WWE put on him He can still put on good matches (Kurt Angle vs. The Undertaker) I don't understand why we should constantly question "Who he should lose his WM streak to". The answer is, he shouldn't ever lose it. That is his legend, to remember him by, to honor him by. He hasn't had as many title reigns as you'd expect and has definitely entertained all of us. On 5th March night on SD there was a dark match main event between Mark henry and Kahli vs Taker in a handicap match. Taker won because clumsy Kahli got tied up in the ropes and roddy piper interfered giving Taker the chance to chokeslam henry and win the match. They even say that Kahli ,seeing defeat writ large before him deliberatly got himself entangled in the ropes to tone down the defeat. Taker's WM legend has been built up for 15 years... it's not an average "build a wrestling star up and then have him put over another wrestling star, in turn transferring massive amounts of prestige/charisma". Once again, why the hell should The Undertaker retire by losing or being buried alive, implying defeat. These are ridiculous assumptions. He shoud retire with honor and superiority of some sort of course (obviously not over a younger star, maybe over a bigger one who is also near retirement). Why in the world anybody should want to see "Taker retire with his WM streak broken!!!! Good Grief! He deserves to go out into retirement with class, with a final victory and right on to the HOF

that's totally demanding for me to declare it yet i think of that when this dream experience for youthful followers, Taker would retire quickly or in step with probability in the time of the experience Paul Bearer will contain the urn and make undertaker win then Bam Bam, Taker disappears into the URN
