I'm going to the doctor at 2:00 today but it's 9:50 in the morning now. My throat itches and hurts, my nose is running and stuffy, I have post nasal drip. The inside of my ears itch and I have cleaned them it doesn't help. One minute I'm very hot and the next I'm freezing and can't get warm. I have a dry cough and a headache. I have been up since 3:00 AM and went to bed at 11:45 last night. I'm breatfeeding my son twice a day so I don't want to take anything that will affect my son. My mom has bronchitis and she thinks that I might be getting it too.

Keep your appointment with your doctor.

In the meantime you can take something for your fever and pain that is safe for breastfeeding mothers. Ibuprofen (Advil) and paracetamol (Tylenol) medicines have the best documentation on safety during breastfeeding.

Hot tea might help your throat and keep you hydrated.

Sounds like your Mom is right. Drink plenty of fluids. Take it easy until you see the doctor. Put an ice pack on your head and behind your neck too when you are feeling hot, but don't get so cold that you start shivering, that will raise your temperature more. It would be OK to take a couple of aspirin AFTER your next breastfeeding. It will be out of your system in 4-6 hours so the baby will not be affected. The doctor can recommend the best medications that are OK to take while breastfeeding.

Wear a mask and wash your hands and breasts when handling the baby so you don't pass the cold on to him.

Gargling with salt water might help the throat. So will tea with lemon and honey.
I like to use ginger tea when I have a fever - it brings it down fast.
Boil ginger with lemon and cinnamon sticks. Let cool a bit, add some honey, drink it down, then get under the blankets - it'll help break the fever.
Feel better soon..
