Well, it's obvious that your b'day is a happy day, and since the color black isn't a "happy color", it's "wrong" to have black on your b'day. Somewhat ridiculous, but not wrong. It's just better to have bright colors on a happy day than dark colors that give the impression of being sad... why do you think black was the color chosen for funerals? Death and funerals are seen as sad. Why do you think white was chosen for marriage? Because marriage is sacred and pure (or at least it should be) and white symbolizes those very things. Anyway, I'd say you can wear black as long as you your whole look isn't completely black. Keep it elegant, but not too dark. Maybe you don't see black as "sad", but others do and it would be best to wear something that brightens you-and in my opinion, with or without other people's thoughts it's best to be that way!
Hope this helped and Happy Birthday! Have fun and best wishes to you too! :)

I don't think there is anything wrong with wearing a black outfit for a special occasion, birthday or whatever. I love wearing black.

it's your birthday. you can wear what you want.
is it friends, siblings, or parents who don't want you to wear black?
If it is your parents, and they are paying for it, they may be saying (poorly) that they want you to wear bright colors and they don't want to pay for black. They might think that black is too "grown-up" for you. Lots of parents have trouble with the idea that their kids are growing up, and that the kids might want something different from what the parent wants.

I think if you like black, wear it. In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter what you were wearing or does it matter how you felt?

i think people think that if you wear black on your birthday that it seems like youre celebrating a funeral or something :S
but if you want to wear black then wear it but pair it with colorful accesories and shoes like aquamarine or teal green.
