or are they just thick?

Just a footnote. I'm making this "generalisation" (it's spelt with an S for God's sake) because when Brits post questions which are quite obviously jokes, you people seem to react like I've never seen.

There are some really nice, intelligent ones with a sense of humour. I asked a question like this a while ago, and was really surprised at how many nice answers there were from the very people I had just insulted! I take it back Americans! (well, some of you)

I think it is more that they have a different sense of homour.
Brits sense of humour is very sarcastic, sometimes quite dark aswell, few people who are not Brits understand sarcasm.
So what we put down as joking they take as serious comment.
But to ask if they are thick becuase they do not undertsand our humour is wrong, you should define your idea of humour more.

But then again, you have to be intelligent to understand and use sarcasm properly... .......

Maybe we just developed a different sense of humor. Or at least, some of us did. British humor is pretty dry, and a lot of people just don't appreciate it, but that doesn't mean they don't find other things funny. Think of them as the Monty Python/Benny Hill crowd.

They don have the same sense of humour that we do, they don't use the sarcasm or the irony or the wit we use in our comedy in their comedies or their culture. We consider these things pretty basic as we use them every day in conversation, as well as when we watch comedies, so therefore someone in our culture who didn't get sarcasm and irony would be considered an idiot. But unlike us, they don't use these things every day, but very rarely if at all. Consequently they don't get these things in our sense of humour, even though we'd consider them very basic, which makes them LOOK thick...

Then again, we get their sense of humour...

I have a sense of humor. An no, I'm not thick. I think you're just making generalizations.

No not much of a sense of humor. Your 'question' demonstrates this. Americans, for the most part, live to offend others and push THEIR beliefs down the throats of the GALAXY.

Some Americans do have humor and some don't. Just like any other nationality on Earth. Humor isn't defined by your nationality. It's just an individual quality you have.

Sure, we have a sense of humor. The current joke of choice is the war in Iraq.

You, from the land of BENNY HILL, have some balls talking about OUR senses of humor! We as a nation have an awesome sense of humor (usually) and yes, we are thick but that doesn't make us bad people. ;)
