i have a 1993 Saturn SL2, like 160,00 miles,
i have this problem with my car, it shakes and shudders alot, it pretends it's going to die when i am backing up. sitting at red lights, and i have trouble accelerating. the weirdest part is that this activity is worse when i have my air/heat on. it has never really died on me, but it sure acts like it is going to. i have replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter and i have put fuel injection cleaner in it. can someone that knows something about cars please tell me what is going on? i have to drive on the interstate everyday to get to work and i can't accelerate fast enough to get on. i am scared that one of these days it is just going to die right in the middle of the on ramp, help! thanks :)

Possible vacuum leak, plugged exhaust or possible engine wear or damage at that mileage.
A good visual check would be in order followed up by a compression check and cylinder leak down test of the engine.
Did you check the spark plug wires ? Could be arching to ground, especially when damp or raining out.

Have it tuned and checked for any other problem it may have. Appears you just drive it and do not keep it serviced properly. This is not something you can fix your self.
