If you have any nasty pimples, cover them up with a tiny bit of concealer. Then, curl your eyelashes, maybe a tiny bit of mascara, and then put some chapstick, or lipgloss on your lips. You shouldn't be using more than that. I'm in high school, and I STILL don't wear eyeshadow or mascara to school. It's ok if you don't wear makeup---you're at school!

At 12 & 13 you can get away with no more than mascara...maybe eyeliner, but not necessary...and a nice lip colour (glossy)
to much makeup on your young skin and you will end up looking "made-up" know what I mean?
Take advantage of your youth, and play it up!

Ugh....I hate when people ASSUME that make-up includes foundation, blush, ect. If she asked for make-up tips for a teen/pre-teen, she wouldn't need to wear foundation! Anyways, you don't need a lot at that age. You can get by with eyeshadow, mascara, lipgloss, and if you want, eyeliner. Eyeshadow, you don't need to get fancy, if you have blue eyes, use a pastel peach color, if you have green, use a champagne, and if you have brown use light pink. Curl your lashes and apply black mascara and a pink lipgloss and you'll be fine. Oh, and for eyeliner, just draw a thin line in the place called your waterline, or the little wet line above your lower lashes.

Keep your makeup light and natural. Wear light shades applied with a light hand. Stick to pinks - lipsticks and blushes and fun shades of eye shadow that you'll never get away with when you're older. Whatever you do, don't overapply. Also, use a cold cream to wash all of your makeup off every night.

I use makeup to only enhance my features. Therefore, I only use enough makeup just to make my good features stand out. Plus, in this heat, it's best to stay light and subtle. You CAN go darker at night, but only as long as it gets cooler where you are and if you don't go too dark.

I'm not sure about your looks, but if I were to recommend makeup tips to young girls that age I didn't even know about at all, I'd recommend this:

1. Always stay subtle- having makeup caked on your face to make a fake image of yourself being beautiful is not any better than the ugliness you're trying to hide (and who says there is ugliness? Teens are very critical and tend to label anything "ugly" even if it isn't. Just use common sense to know.) And too much blush or lipstick or whatever is very clownish. Not the best look you can accomplish! lol. ;)

2. Pastel colors are best. Especially with fair skin. Nothing too dramatic- you'll look like an amature kid at makeup who's trying to be good with makeup. And pastel colors look, of course, very good on tan and darker skin colors... oh, and never, EVER wear dark colors in the early morning. It looks terrible. Think "light with light" and "dark with dark".

3. Take breaks. Don't do makeovers everyday on yourself. Let your face breath for at least two days per week. And make sure to completely wash off any makeup with good de-makeup products, wash your face and apply face lotion before going to bed.

4. Never put too much at once too frequently. Every once in a while, you can do an extensive makeover on yourself for fun- trying out a style you picked up somewhere- or for a special occasion, but don't do it like everyday like celebrities. Why do you think they do it? They started doing it, thus ended up with bad skin and are now trapped with literally having their faces buttered with makeup!

So, hope this wasn't too long, that it helped and have fun! Oh, one last thing: you have your whole life ahead of you- don't go too fast! You'll be able to wear a lot more sooner than you think... good luck! :)

Bare Minerals is really good for young people. It is really light and you can barely tell that you are even wearing makeup.

don't...

I'm 23 (male) and I hate it when my gf puts makeup on : I can't kiss her without having the impression of either kissing a bowl of flour or a piece of butter...

So, don't use makeup...
