You do not need a license to canoe on the Thames. I used to canoe regularly with the canoe club at Richmond. It helps to join a club, if nothing more than to be aware of the safety issues (there are some pretty big boats out there, and the rowers, facing backwards, will stop for no-one).

You can use it on just about any bit of river in the UK without a licence. Some bits of river are privately owned but there should be signs up for that.

Also some bits of canals and rivers are really really busy so be careful as any muppet can hire a boat or barge and they may not be looking out for canoists.

Have a fab time

You do not need a licence for a canoe.
But as others have poinet out be aware of local by-laws and safety on the water. Also you "drive " on the right when approaching other vessels in narrow waters. Also "Green to Green, Red to Red" works

As long as you follow the river rules. Not sure what they are though. Erm like which side you canoe on, and who you give way to and stuff

I am not sure. If you required a license i shoudl think you would obtain it from the Post Office like you would a fishing license. Try phoning your local Post Office they shoudl be able to give you more information!
