Some of my mates says that iPods has an effective age of one year. After that the thing'll start having problems. The most noticeable is the battery life. Is this true?

on the ipod the most noticeable thing is battery life you can start seeing that in a couple of months a say like about 6 months or so. the more you charge it the more it tends to lose its charge faster. it is the same with anything with a rechargeable battery. i had an ipod for about 9 month and it crashed like permanantly to where it would only show the apple logo and never load at all. then in other occtions ive had apple ipods that last a whole lot. so it all depends on how its being treated and the care taken. the one that died on my was really taken care of and still died. but my video ipod is very good gives me about 8-12 hours of charge all depending on the scrolling and stuff. i havent had an i pod for more than a year and a half so i wouldnt know if there were to be more serious problems but my friend had a 1st generation and it was in awsome working condition. so you can say that they are pretty durable in exception to the ones that do come out bad.

I think so, but you can ship the ipod to apple, and they will replace the battery (though i'm not sure how much it costs)
