Pornography has been banned - and it simply didn't work. This is a form of "expression" that has been in circulation since ancient times. Experience around the world in other societies shows that if porn of any form - except those involving exceptionally harmful activity including kiddie porn - is left alone, everyone ends up better off.
One of the reasons is that when such stuff is no longer "forbidden," it loses some of the appeal. Many people go take a gander, dislike it or discover it to banal and boring, and don't bother again. For those who create or appreciate pornography, which by the way varies in definition according to one's views, a ban is simply narrow-minded repression that hardly alters their tastes or actions.
Further, it is actually about as practical as banning alcohol. We tried that in the U.S., and discovered all the repression produced was more crime.
Archaeologists in the Greek port of Piraeus some time ago discovered some sandal prints made in the mud more than 2000 years ago, which had hardened and over time were preserved by being covered over. There were words carved into the sandal's soles - and the track of the shoes led straight to what had been a port town brothel. The words? "Follow me." In a way, that text is an old example "pornography," for the term is derived from Greek and used to mainly refer to written material about sex.
In the ancient world, it was not at all uncommon to encounter writings about sex in very blunt and graphic terms - or to discover wall paintings, mosaics, and decorations on pottery or other tiems that were quite specific depictions of naked people and sexual activity of almost every kind.
People may say that society has changed, that values and principles have "advanced," and that such disgusting images, words and activities are just not acceptable any more. Well, the people who say that believe it - but they are not by any means universal in modern cultures.
There are good and practical resaons for regulating some aspects of the production and distribution of sexually-explicit material (note the difference now in the emotional temperature of the words - "sexually-explicit" as opposed to "pornography"). Brutalization, cruel exploitation, abuse of minors, physical harm and inhumane treatment, and other actions should not be allowed. The industry should be policed to prevent this as well as to protect people from disease. Distribution should be regulated enough to limit blatant forcing of sexually-explicit material before an unwilling public or children - but that does not mean forcing the stores and theaters out of town, or the magazines off the racks, as some bluestockings still seek to do.
And as for those who claim that all the women (sometimes the men) who participate in making pornography are exploited, take another look. Yes, some are - especially younger people who are runaways, drug addicts, or homeless. But a great majority of the people in a VERY big industry are there voluntarily, enjoy what they do, and resent the condescension expressed by so-called "superior" people.
No. Pornography should not be banned. Quite the opposite - apart from some common sense regulation, almost all limits on its production, viewing and distribution should be eliminated. it is the job of families and engaged adults to properly guide their youngsters, so that they are not allowed license to engage in activites harmful to them - which includes dealing with porn. It is not proper or just for others to impose a narrow, bigoted and uncomprehending sense of values on the rest of society.

I don't have an opinion on what emotionally mature adults do, but I also know that the number of sexual addiction cases has risen with the proliferation of pornography on the internet. I don't want to say that internet pornography causes sexual addictions, but I think that with easier access, more people are falling victim to industry pariah.
The other unfortunate outcomes of internet pornography are the rise in child pornography and peer to peer sharing that children can easily access. Does this mean that porn should be banned? Not necessarily - but I doubt that everyone who consumes porn is emotionally mature and stable enough to do so. Pornography has a lot of unwritten assumptions with it and I think that the more people are educated about its effects, the better. It's like anything - do cigarettes kill people? Not unless they're smoked.

I think it's too easy to get to on the internet and something should be done about it, for the sake of children. Just too easy to get to, even when parents are vigilant.
I don't think it should be banned, because adults should be able to look at it or buy it if they like it. Now days though, there are probably some fetish type genres of porn that may questionable because they involve hurting people.

I think porn is a good thing. I mean I don't watch it everyday or every month for example, but it is better than cheating on your loved one and it can bring some extra excitement into the bedroom. Not a bad thing at all unless your addicted, in that case you need serious help.

No. Despite the fact that it exploits everyone who touches it, you want to keep this where the activities can be seen and monitored.
Driving it underground opens the door to even more explotation and who knows what. And it does fill a specialized need.

Get rid of it all. Everyone should focus more on finding their soulmate and getting married. Then they can look at the real thing freely and whenever.
