When you install a program, the automatic installer asks, usually, if you want to add an icon to the program to the All Program menu, so you can go to Start, All Programs, and find the icon listed with other programs, and click on it to run the program.

Most people new to computing don't learn enough fast enough - lord knows there's a gazillion things to learn - to manage things like this efficiently, and they tend to put every last thing on the desktop, cluttering it up with icons. They think this is easier, but they end up with such a swarm of icons that they spend more time hunting amongst them to find stuff than they would if they learned the built in system.

Anyway, it couldn't hurt to add the icon mentioned to the program menu.
