Hi Larissa, Thanks for choosing my answer to you as the best in your prior question. What a piece of luck I just quit smoking 2 months ago after almost 13 years of smoking and probably can give you a tip on how to do that. It's not going to be easy but it works.
(1) Know for sure you want to quit. It's not too late !
(2) Pick up your last pack of cig ( The pack must be more or less full) and put a duct tape around it and write no smoking on it.
(3) Keep it in the top drawer of your desk or a visible place you hang out most.
This technique help me quit by forcing me to abstain and eventually I no longer feel urges. You may want get some chewing gum so that you don't start eating heavily.

I am really really glad that you are quiting good luck to you. Hope it helps get you on with your life.

Larissa,
Two things. First, make sure you have no lighters anywhere around. It is pretty hard to light up when you have to rub two sticks together, although it is good exercise. Second, find some pictures of women who have smoked all their lives. Look carefully at the deep wrinkles around their eyes, their throats, and especially that wrinkled upper lip. Looks pretty sad, doesn't it? If that isn't enough, go the the intensive care unit at your local hospital, and check out the people who have those big plastic tubes coming out of their chest, so the machines can breathe for them. Smoking is so cool, isn't it? If you believe in God, you might try asking Him what He thinks about it all. The people who love you, will not encourage you to destroy yourself for an image, or a habit. Think about what you will do with the $1000 you won't spend on cigarettes next year..

There is no easy way to stop smoking. I've been a smoker for 18 years... I wish I had never started. I've tried to quit several times...I always go back to it. It is a true addiction. Different mothods work for different people. Find one that works for you. I think will power is the key ingredient in quitting cigarettes.

There is no easy way. The best is to reduce the number of cigarettes u light per day. And think before u light up!
For example. if u are used to light 1 up when u open ur eyes in the morning, dont do it tomorrow! As days go by, u will slowly end up with zero cigarettes!
I'm not a smoker, but I've got friends who did that and they are now smoke-free!!!

You probably want to know the 'easiest' way to quit smoking.

I went cold turkey. It was hard at first, but the cold turkey method has the best odds against a relapse.

Give it a try and be strong. Avoid other smokers... (really!)

Good luck.

I started dipping (I know, I know gross) but now I do neither. The hardest part for me is in a social setting and everyone is drinking. At first you have to continually make a conscious effort, it's hard but the pangs wear off and it becomes easier.
