Its a love story between a writer and a singer/hooker. She has some kind of lung disease and dies at the end. Its one of those movies that is kinda weird I liked it.

It is a musical that tells the story of a young writer who falls in love for a singing Courtesan. They try to escape the confines of the moulin rouge... I love this colourful musical put together by Baz Laurman, with the talents of Ewan MacGregor and Nicole Kidman. All i can say is the only way to make up your mind is to experience it for yourself.

I liked this movie.
From what I can remember it's the story of a playwright (Ewan McGregor) writing a play (funnily enough). While he's doing this he falls for the leading lady (Nicole Kidman) and they start an affair they have to keep secret as Kidman's boss is trying to marry her off to someone rich who will help fund his theatre. It's about the ups and downs of the relationship and other stuff going on with the people that work for the theatre. THere's lots of absinthe being drunk (check out Kylie as the absinthe fairy), lots of partying going on and life looks great. Then it takes a tragic downturn. Won't ruin it for you, but worth a watch for the fabulous sets, costumes and direction (same director that did the modern Romeo & Juliet).

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods.
