My heritage is Scottish so I have no problem with Scots. I would love to visit Scotland and do some searching into my ancestry. I love the thick accent and the rich history of the people. All that I've met have been very down to earth, friendly and generally nice people.

I haven't known enough Scottish people to form a strong opinion. But I think the accent is so nice when women speak. (I don't mean Jimmy Krankie or Dr. Gillian McKeith!) I couldn't bear Ali McCoist's and Alan Hanson's commentating during the World Cup.

Hi! I am Scottish and I am sorry to say - I hate it... !! I hate everything about Scotland - from the Weather, it's Mickey Mouse Parliament with weak politicians, the lovely scenery , everyone thinks they are snobs (even the poor ) - the price of a bit of scone at the Kelvingrove Museum (£2.50) - but the most shocking thing of all about Scotland is the price of the Petrol (some places its £1 a litre) but what do us 5 million numpties do about it.. ? ___ ! Anyone from the Costa Del Sol/Blanca, Canary Islands reading this - who wish to swap with me for a lovely Tartan Short bead life in Good old Escocia - please get in touch..

ACK, they seem to be really nice people. I've never been to Scotland, but it is on my agenda. I was just in Ireland and loved it and I would expect the same in Scotland. I can't really answer this too well since I've never really gotten to know any true Scottich people. The best I can do is tell you what I think of Willie on the Simpsons. I do have a little trouble understanding them when they talk really fast.

To be honest, we hardly think about them at all. So we do not really form any stereotypes.

It seems that historically, several famous & intellegent people have come from Scotland (James Watt, for example). So has the actor Sean Conery (James Bond).

But I believe that when most Americans think of Scotland, we think of "Willy" form the "Simpsons". Bagpipes, kilts, and stoic personailies.

I'm welsh and they make me laugh. Don't know what their on about half the time but they are still great to be around. I've been to Scotland on a few occasions now and have really enjoyed myself every time.
