Yes that is why they called it the Patriot. In fact that it is the opposite. Everyone who voted for that Act has given the President the power to take away some of our Rights protected by the Four Amendment. It is a scary time in our history because people are letting this happen. It is very dangerous when someone says to you that they don't care if the government taps their phone because they have nothing to hide. Why not just say I don't care if the police come into my house and arrest me because I didn't do anything. It doesn't make sense but we are in a error where people forget about how precious our Rights really are and how fragile this system is. We are only protected as citizen of this country by two Documents the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Once these documents start to erode with things call the Patriot Act we will never have the full freedom that made this country great. This will be the delcine of stability in a American history.

In a democratic system you should expect people you dont agree with to come to power. Thats part of the nature of the system.. if you want only the people you want in power thats a totalitarian system.
Im sure people exist, and are in some approximate majority, who approve of the Patriot act. If you cant live with their ideas of what is best when their guys are in power, then you should be happy when the same thing happens when your guys are in power. Should it really be okay when governmental policies made by the majority are overturned by the minority? Is that something you actually want implemented in your government? What if you arent part or in agreement with the minority that does the overturning?
How do you feel about prayer in schools, or "intelligent design"?
How do you feel about constitutional ammendments for or against abortion, or gay marriage?
Should any minority be able to make or break laws about these things that the majority votes in? What do you think?
Im sure there are things you disagree with, but thats part of the democratic process. Next election, vote, and encourage your friends to vote. Less than half of all americans vote. If you dont like the patriot act, find others who agree with you and get them to vote.

The Patriot Act is unconstitutional at best. Frankly, I would vote against it. By using the so called Patriot Act, we lower ourselves to the level of the terrorists, and we make the sacrifices of the men who died in WW1, WW2, Viet Nam, Korea and all the other conflicts for our country meaningless because we have betrayed our national conscience
