If they have driver's ed and demonstrate maturity with their driving habits, then 16 is fine. The problem is that when they get with friends, they want to start showing off, and that's when you get accidents. When you're learning, you're driving in ideal conditions, and you do fine, so you think you're a good driver. What makes you a good driver, though, is knowing how to respond when conditions are no longer ideal, such as hitting a patch of ice, hydroplaning on water, or swerving to miss an obstacle in the road without running then into oncoming traffic or stationary objects. Learn patiently, listen to your parents, and PAY ATTENTION when you're driving.

Driving age should be determined by the teenagers level of responsiblity. We have a 19 year old who got her license when she was 17 due to the lack of responsibility in her school work and the home. We also have a another girl that is currently 17 and will be 18 in September and she doesn't have her license yet and won't be getting them (with our assistance) until she's passing all her schooling, increases her respect to her parents and learns to accept and follow the rules laid down by her parents.

I have a 14 yo that I suspect will begin her drivers education at 15 and licensed at 16 because she does have the respect and responsiblity level that we require.

Hope this helps!

This is just my opinion, I think 18 is a good age for teens to start driving. I only say that because there are a lot of wrecks caused by people under that age due to carelessness and showing of their vehicals, racing and so forth. I feel driving is a huge responsibility and some teenagers arent ready to handle that sort of responsibility, My grandfather told me once you sit behind the wheel of that car you are basically drivin a death machine if you arent fully aware of what you are doing.

From a teenagers point of view: I say 18. (thats mainly because i have a phobia of driving) but still, 18 is better because theres so many 16 year olds that are immature and irresponsible

At 17 not 16.

Only with another responsible adult in the car when they have parental permission, a drivers license, a strong sense of responsibility and if they know how to handle a vehicle on the street.

LET ME SHARE THIS WITH YOU:
My daughter learn to drive at 17. One day I asked 'how do you pull out from a parked position' She replied: "I turn my head to the left and look behind me then in front, put on my signal and ease out cautiously".

Now that is the correct answer, but I still did not let her drive alone, because she could not answer my next question:

'What do you see when you turn your head to the left",

She started to laugh sheepishly, then said - "I don't look for anything - I just turn my head"

I feel that today's teens are not ready to drive at such age. They are not mentality ready for this responsibility. Look at the news more teen are dying in car accidents than 10 years ago. My 17 year old has not begin to drive yet for the simple fact I want to keep her alive a little longer. I will be her chauffeur for as long as she likes 5, 10 even 20 years from now just to keep her alive.

infants could could attend a drivers type at college, in the past geting their enable. Then, they could have the enable for a minimum of three months, yet could have specific issues checked off, like interstate shuttle, parking, and so on. truthfully, have practice in doing each and everything and extremely almost something they'll come upon accessible. Unfortunatly, there's no longer an age bracket that contains merely undesirable drivers. youthful drivers don't have the experience, and a few are real aggressive and that they play music loud. truthfully, they're excited to have the license. The older human beings, definite, they too are a threat on the line, probable extra effective than the infants. trouble-free because of the fact, they rigidity sluggish, and that they could't see too properly. anybody else, properly there are good and undesirable. To be honest, i think of human beings could could retake the drivers ingredient of the examination each and every few years, just to make sure they nonetheless can rigidity properly. in case you do no longer bypass, you do no longer rigidity.

Only if the teen can show responsibility at home and at school with good grades, a gps sensor to warn parents if the teen went out side set perimeter. This tells speed direction and location, it only helps protect the young driver and the parents insurance.
