Only if you're the kind of guy to stand up for what you believe, not willing to compromise your standards, beliefs....

At my husband's last job (he's a white, heterosexual male), one of the qualifications- at least one of the PRINTED ones, was that the applicant had to have 2 years experience on the production floor...

With that said, they were always hiring (promote, really) people right out of training (8 weeks in a classroom, NO production time).... Then he'd notice that the new supervisor was really close (romantically?) with one or 2 of the upper management.

Dunno if management was promoting their buddies or if the trainees were doing "something extra" to get the job...

It's ok- that company has done a bunch of other REALLY stupid things, and they will be paying for it... ;) Muahahahah!!

Nope. That's not true. Whatever policies some companies may have to promote minorities, there are really very few such people getting those jobs. The vast majority of new hires are in the majority.

And, in any case, being heterosexual has nothing to do with it. No major company or municipality is offering any sort of affirmative action program for homosexuals. I mean, come on.

Nope. While large companies used to have "quotas" to fill to show that they weren't biased in their hiring practices, that law is no longer in effect. They were never forced to hire anyone who wasn't qualified for the job. That is a huge myth.

However, some companies still use a quota system ... not in a bad way, but to assure that their personnel department doesn't do things in a bigoted manner.

If a person is trying to get a job (and I'm talking any race, gender, or sexual orientation) and they feel they didn't get the job because of discrimination, they have a right to sue the company for discriminatory practices and loss of income.

No, that is not true. When Affirmative Action first hit the scene, it may have rang a little true. Not all companies need to use the AA policy now days for their hiring practices. If you hire the most qualified you will generally end up with a very diversified group anyway.

It depends on if the company receives tax breaks if they hire minorities . It is true that some companies do work with a qouta . They must hire like 1 minority to every 5 caucasions . Some companies are tax exempt if they hire minorities .

Youre referring to affative action. Companies must hire minorities... You will find a job as a white male, they are the majority of our work force... Keep in mind you will have a better time to find a job by net working, then blindly sending out resumes. Its not what you know its who you know. I have a friend who tosses every resume he gets and only hires people he knows... I'm taking about someone who is working at a MAJOR corporation, and way up the corp. ladder... FYI

It must be assumed that if you do your job well, and you company survives the competition, that you will do well also. In my experience I have not found any sort of discrimination by republicans based on religion. I do know if you are a particularly strong Christian that some Democrats will attack you for that. As far as outsourcing goes, it really is up to the market and is not a political issue. If your company does well here there is no reason to outsource but if your product can be produced for less elsewhere then one must assume it will be outsourced, that is how the system works.

Hiring unqualified minorities is ok. Not hiring people over 50 is ok. Amazing what the liberal priorities in America are.

Please. Where I work at whites are the majority and it has been at every job I've held. Also, companies don't like to hire folks over 50 seems like. When you hit 50 you best start looking at Walmart.

We have "Affirmative Action", which basically states if you have two equal candidates, hire the minority. But not all companies participate in AA.
