Auchwitz was a huge complex, most of which was a slave labour camp and only part the gas chambers which murdered people.

It also changed in size throughout its existence and there was a different "demand" for the gas chambers at different times. For example, when the Hungarian Jews arrived in large numbers the gas chambers were in constant use: at other times, they had to save up the poor victims until there were enough to make it "worth while" to run a gas chamber. So you see, there's no one answer to your question.
