I try not to generalize. There are good and bad people in every culture and religion. Unfortunately, it seems that only the most arrogant/ignorant ones get all the air time.

There are a few Americans who are angry with France for their lack of support for our immoral Iraq War, but most have "seen the light" on that one...

I think it's safe to say that the United States is the most friendly nation in the world to Jews outside of Israel. Jewish people have had tremendous success in pursuing the American dream in this country, and they enjoy quite a good standing for a "minority" group. Israel is supported to a fault by the United States, for that matter. I am not sure who said that, but it couldn't be more wrong.

For that matter, if anyone has a bad track record of "not loving" the Jews (besides of course the Nazis), it's the French. You may want to read up on the "Dreyfus Affair", which has got to be one of the most blatant examples of Anti-Semitic scapegoating in history.

France was also one of the European countries that relegated the jews to living in ghettos, and from holding regular occupations, which has a lot to do with why Jews became associated with moneylending, etc.

Here in America we have people who do not like people because of a certain race and religion beliefs. Not all Americans are that way. It is the same way where you live and every where else in the world. Not all Americans hate Jews or the French.

people are people where ever you go.....your going to find that people dislike that which they are afraid or ignorant of. miss information, stereotyping, age-old prosecutions and simple genetic " same race" programing are another. i must admit until i worked with a Jewish doctor, i had the same misconception of "all" Jews but i asked questions, listened. the Jews as a people and as a practiced way of life is a beautiful and flowing system that treats men and women as equal. and understands that we are all human, built to raise and fall throughout life. though i myself am not Jewish, each day i try to do a mitsva in some way. as for being french, most Americans don't understand European ways. Europeans are less chatty, arrogant, snotty and a little abrasive to our sensibility. Most feel put-out by tourist and interlopers(just like we Americans do!) I visited Paris and was totally repulsed by the attitude and remarks of most Frenchman but i had to remember i was a guest and be willing to learn and understand. I lived in Germany for 3 years and had to learn that harshness of sound doesn't mean harshness of words. Germans, yell and everything sounds like a death sentence!
Heck, it might have been that they didn't like my being a Buddhist...not that i was American..lol

I agree with the first answer it is the Frogs that we do not care for .It goes back to the whole bombing of Libya thing when the french would not allow our planes to fly through french airspace to get to Libya . That is why we missed our target and hit the french embassy . Most Americans do not care about what religion someone is .
It is all about how you treat your fellow man .

Bonjour.

Please don't believe all that you read in newspapers or see on TV or even read on this site as some people are just idiots!

The average American welcomes interactions with all races (nationality) and creeds (religious beliefs). I have backpacked across your beautiful country -- many years ago -- and I have dated and been friends with Jewish people.

French peoples and Jewish people alike are just fine - it is an unfair generalization that your friends/peers/fellow countrymen have told you.
